How to contribute?

Reading the gitbook is the first way of making it happen.

Further contributions to the gitbook can take many forms:

  • Starting a discussion or commenting on a discussion
  • Creating a new tip in the appropriate chapter
  • Updating chapters that require updating
  • Creating a new chapter
  • Adding to or editing a tip

For the time being we'll let the dust of creation settle and see whether rules are warranted. This will also depend on the features of expansion pattern of the community: granting Viewer/Editing rights to all, implementing moderation procedures, etc.

AS of now, it seems like the natural and most appropriate flow of things that:

  • editing (or withdrawal/deletion) of any material by its original creator should be free.
  • unsignificant editing of any part of the gitbook can be done immediately. Examples include syntax/grammar typos, both in language and in programming language.
  • significant editing of a tip created by someone else should be preceded by a mention in a discussion.
  • creation of a new chapter should be discussed in a discussion
  • update of a time-sensitive chapter should be immediate (such as conference calls), but subject to self-control; diffusion of unchecked information is potentially harmful.
